Bob came to inspect the house, carefully evaluated what had to be done and explained us in detail the work that he would do. He then send us a very reasonable estimate and came to do the work soon after. He was very kind throughout the process and even offered to work around the nap time of our daughter not to make too much noise. He completed the work in half a day with his helper that also left the area clean and tidy. We would recommend Bob for great insulation work at a good price!Posted on Joanna2022-09-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They did a good job in insulation and good customer service.Posted on Caroline Oneill2022-02-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Bob and his team on two separate instances for two different properties, and both times they were able to quickly identify my issues and help remediate them! Most recently, my fiancé and I moved into a 1900s renovated home. Upon moving in, we quickly noticed that we were FREEZING all the time, even when cranking the heat. Bob and his team came and performed a full audit of the home and discovered there was absolutely no insulation on our third floor. They also gave us some other very helpful tips on how to save energy in our home. I would recommend anyone who owns property to have Bob and his team come at the very least do an audit at your property, as we ended up saving tons of money on our energy bills after using his services. It is definitely worth it, especially if you have an older home or have been noticing high bills.Posted on Maria Edmonds2021-02-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Got my attic insulated last February. H.E.L.P. did an excellent job. I could immediately see the difference in my energy bill, and the comfort in my home. I highly recommend them.Posted on Katherine Galbreath2020-08-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They insulated my (absolutely no insulation upon move-in) flat roof at a reasonable price! Bob and Mike came to assess/quote and Mike was super friendly and knowledgeable at installation!Posted on Alex Stimac2020-02-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. HELP was a huge help for us. We are new homeowners and we were shocked at our high gas bills during our first winter in the house. After researching online, we signed up for the BGE home energy audit (costs $100 and includes a lot of free stuff as part of the audit. There is zero reason not to do it if you are at all concerned about the weatherproofing in your home). Bob from HELP came out to perform our audit, which revealed the existence of several massive connections between the attic and our basement, which essentially caused our basement to constantly suck cold air in from the outside, forcing our furnace to work overtime. Bob walked us through his proposal and quote as well as the BGE rebate process, and was able to secure a really high rebate for us. Mike and Joe came out to do the actual insulating and sealing work, and they were polite, diligent, and thorough throughout. I can’t say enough positive things about the HELP team and I highly highly recommend both HELP and the BGE Energy Audit program.Posted on mary bradley2019-01-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After getting a horrific energy bill on a recently renovated house in Arbutus, I called HELP and Bob came by and completely insulated the home, made things more energy efficient, and educated us along the way! Just received our energy bill and we think Bob is a rock star! Thank you!Posted on Donna Green2018-08-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had my house attic and garage insulated along with some other energy efficiency updates and I can't say enough good things about H.E.L.P. After enduring adverse temperature extremes and paying out very high electric and gas bills for two years I am so glad to have made the investment to get the issues fixed. Thanks again Bob!
How are energy audits conducted in Baltimore?
- 1. The inspector walks your home and notes insulation type in each room
- 2. A blower door fan depressurizes the house to measure total air leakage
- 3. A thermal camera scans walls, ceilings, and outlets for cold spots
- 4. The auditor checks ductwork, water heater, and HVAC efficiency
- 5. The inspector photographs problem areas like attic hatches and rim joists
- 6. The report lists each issue with estimated energy loss and repair priority
- 7. We schedule insulation or air sealing work based on findings

Thermal Cameras and Blower Door Tests Show Exactly Where Baltimore Homes Lose Heat
If you live in Hampden, Canton, or Federal Hill and your winter bills keep climbing, you need to see where the heat goes. Our thermal cameras show invisible air leaks around windows, outlets, and baseboards before we add insulation. The blower door test measures how much air escapes through your walls and floors.
You can’t fix what you can’t see. Cold spots show up as dark blue patches on the camera screen. We find drafts behind switch plates, under door thresholds, and where pipes enter your basement. Baltimore’s freeze-thaw cycles crack foundation seals every winter. Our audits catch these gaps early so you stop heating the outdoors.
Energy Audits Measure Air Leaks Before You Add Insulation
If you’re planning attic or crawl space insulation in Fells Point or Mount Vernon, start with an audit. The blower door test gives you a leakage number in cubic feet per minute. You can track improvement after we seal air gaps and add insulation. Sealing leaks first makes new insulation work better.
Brick row homes share walls with neighbors. Our auditors focus on rim joists and top plates where your conditioned air escapes into shared cavities. We measure pressure differences between floors to find hidden air paths. The test shows if your attic hatch leaks or if basement band joists need foam sealing.

Auditors Check Attics, Crawl Spaces, and Basements for Moisture and Missing Insulation
If you own an older home in Charles Village or Waverly with an unfinished basement, moisture can ruin your insulation. Wet fiberglass loses R-value and grows mold. Our auditors check for water stains, condensation, and soggy batts in every space.
Baltimore humidity and summer storms create crawl space condensation. We spot ventilation problems before they damage floor joists. The audit includes attic moisture checks too. If your bathroom fans vent into the attic instead of outside, you’ll see mold on roof sheathing. We document these issues in photos so you know what to fix first.

You Get a Printed Report That Lists Every Problem and Its Energy Cost
If you’re comparing bids for insulation work or applying for rebates, you need documentation. Our report prioritizes repairs by savings. You tackle attic insulation before wall injections because attics lose the most heat. Each line item shows current R-value, recommended R-value, and estimated annual energy waste.
Many Baltimore utility rebate programs require a pre-work audit. BGE’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program covers part of the audit cost when you complete recommended insulation upgrades afterward. The report documents your baseline so you qualify for incentives. You get photos of every problem area with notes on severity. The priority list helps you budget repairs over time if you can’t do everything at once. Our insulation contractors use these findings to complete your upgrades.
Baltimore Row Homes Need Special Attention to Shared Walls and Party Wall Leaks
If you own a row home in Patterson Park or Pigtown and one room stays cold, the problem might be in the party wall. Our auditor checks cavities between units for missing insulation and air paths. Shared walls often have gaps at the top plate where warm air flows into your neighbor’s attic.
Historic district rules limit exterior work in many Baltimore neighborhoods. Energy audits guide interior insulation upgrades that don’t change your home’s appearance. We use thermal imaging to map cold zones behind walls so you know where to inject foam or add dense-pack cellulose. The audit shows if your cold room needs insulation, air sealing, or both.
