Bob came to inspect the house, carefully evaluated what had to be done and explained us in detail the work that he would do. He then send us a very reasonable estimate and came to do the work soon after. He was very kind throughout the process and even offered to work around the nap time of our daughter not to make too much noise. He completed the work in half a day with his helper that also left the area clean and tidy. We would recommend Bob for great insulation work at a good price!Posted on Joanna2022-09-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They did a good job in insulation and good customer service.Posted on Caroline Oneill2022-02-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have used Bob and his team on two separate instances for two different properties, and both times they were able to quickly identify my issues and help remediate them! Most recently, my fiancé and I moved into a 1900s renovated home. Upon moving in, we quickly noticed that we were FREEZING all the time, even when cranking the heat. Bob and his team came and performed a full audit of the home and discovered there was absolutely no insulation on our third floor. They also gave us some other very helpful tips on how to save energy in our home. I would recommend anyone who owns property to have Bob and his team come at the very least do an audit at your property, as we ended up saving tons of money on our energy bills after using his services. It is definitely worth it, especially if you have an older home or have been noticing high bills.Posted on Maria Edmonds2021-02-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Got my attic insulated last February. H.E.L.P. did an excellent job. I could immediately see the difference in my energy bill, and the comfort in my home. I highly recommend them.Posted on Katherine Galbreath2020-08-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They insulated my (absolutely no insulation upon move-in) flat roof at a reasonable price! Bob and Mike came to assess/quote and Mike was super friendly and knowledgeable at installation!Posted on Alex Stimac2020-02-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. HELP was a huge help for us. We are new homeowners and we were shocked at our high gas bills during our first winter in the house. After researching online, we signed up for the BGE home energy audit (costs $100 and includes a lot of free stuff as part of the audit. There is zero reason not to do it if you are at all concerned about the weatherproofing in your home). Bob from HELP came out to perform our audit, which revealed the existence of several massive connections between the attic and our basement, which essentially caused our basement to constantly suck cold air in from the outside, forcing our furnace to work overtime. Bob walked us through his proposal and quote as well as the BGE rebate process, and was able to secure a really high rebate for us. Mike and Joe came out to do the actual insulating and sealing work, and they were polite, diligent, and thorough throughout. I can’t say enough positive things about the HELP team and I highly highly recommend both HELP and the BGE Energy Audit program.Posted on mary bradley2019-01-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After getting a horrific energy bill on a recently renovated house in Arbutus, I called HELP and Bob came by and completely insulated the home, made things more energy efficient, and educated us along the way! Just received our energy bill and we think Bob is a rock star! Thank you!Posted on Donna Green2018-08-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had my house attic and garage insulated along with some other energy efficiency updates and I can't say enough good things about H.E.L.P. After enduring adverse temperature extremes and paying out very high electric and gas bills for two years I am so glad to have made the investment to get the issues fixed. Thanks again Bob!
Hampden in Baltimore sits between Roland Park and Woodberry. Rowhomes from the 1800s and early 1900s dominate the neighborhood. Most homes share walls and have minimal attic access. Original insulation is often missing or has settled over 100+ years.
Finding a reliable insulation contractor Hampden residents trust matters for older homes. This page covers insulation solutions specific to Hampden’s building types. Narrow streets and permit rules require local knowledge.
Shared walls mean different approaches than standalone houses. Many homes lack driveways, so material staging needs planning. Check availability for a free attic or wall inspection.
Why Hampden Rowhomes Need Different Insulation Approaches
Rowhomes share side walls, so heat loss occurs through the front, back, and roof. Original homes built between 1890 and 1920 used minimal or no wall insulation. Attic access often comes through small hatches or second-floor closets.
Blown-in cellulose works best for tight crawl spaces. Basement rim joists frequently remain uninsulated in brick foundation homes. Many Hampden homes were converted from worker housing with added second floors.
We adjust our approach based on how your specific home was constructed. Shared party walls stay warmer than exterior walls. Your biggest energy losses happen at the roof line and basement. We focus insulation efforts where they deliver the most savings for you.

What to Expect During Your Hampden Home Insulation Assessment
Our inspector checks attic depth, wall cavities, and basement rim joists. We identify air leaks around original windows and door frames. You receive a review of current R-value against Maryland energy code recommendations. We discuss staging materials on narrow streets like 36th or Falls Road.

Preparing Your Hampden Property for Insulation Work
Clear the attic hatch area and hallway access before we arrive. Move stored items away from knee walls if your home has them. Notify neighbors if a shared driveway will have materials delivery blocking access. Confirm parking permit zone rules for our work vehicle.
Street parking on weekdays is easier than weekend festival days. Secure pets during the insulation blowing process. The equipment creates noise and activity throughout your home.
We protect floors and furniture with drop cloths. Your preparation helps us finish faster and cleaner.

Verifying Insulation Performance After Installation in Row Construction
Thermal camera scans show coverage in walls and attic after installation. R-value testing confirms depth meets or exceeds your target number. We check that shared wall top plates are properly air-sealed. Ventilation must still function after added attic insulation.
Homes with finished attics need soffit-to-ridge airflow maintained. We provide documentation for future home sales or energy rebates. You receive photos of the work areas before and after.
Our quality check happens the same day as installation. Proper insulation also reduces the load on your air conditioning system during summer months. We do not leave until you see proof the job is complete.
ATTIC TYPES
Preventing Future Energy Loss in Hampden's Older Building Stock
Schedule an attic depth check every five to seven years as settling occurs. Monitor basement rim joists for moisture or gap formation. Seal window and door frames separately from insulation work. Consider adding storm windows on front-facing original frames.
Hampden homes near Jones Falls may see higher humidity levels. Keep your attic hatch weatherstripped and insulated on the top side. Small maintenance steps protect your investment.
Insulation performs best when air sealing stays intact. We offer follow-up inspections to verify your system still works as designed. Many homeowners pair insulation upgrades with HVAC improvements to maximize energy savings.
